CMC parties are no longer open to all Claremont College students
This afternoon, the student body president of the ASCMC announcement that the parties will only be open to CMC students or will be CMC no longer a “for the foreseeable future”. It’s unclear who will ultimately decide between these two options, but neither has been approved by the Senate or the CSAMC Executive Council. In the past, most large-scale ASCMC events were open to students from Claremont’s five colleges.
This follows the dean of the student body’s decision to close last Saturday’s Monte Carlo event about an hour earlier than planned. According to the announcement, this was due to “a significant number of medical incidents”, aggression towards staff, uninvited guests, indoor smoking, theft and general disregard for campus facilities. The student body president claimed that the party “has turned into an every man for himself that has destroyed [the night] for many people. »
In the aftermath of the event, rumors circulated that more than ten students were taken to hospital. An anonymous source alleges that only three students were transported: a CMC student, a student from another 5C and an individual who does not attend Claremont Colleges. This report has not yet been confirmed.
CMC News and Media Relations Director Gilien Silsby has not yet responded to a request for comment.
This is a developing story: more updates will come.
